ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
We have commissioned studies to assess how the construction and operation of the proposed nine-turbine wind farm might affect plant and animal life at the site, such as breeding birds. These environmental studies form part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) which takes place prior to submitting a planning application.
The purpose of an EIA is to investigate and mitigate any potential effects of a development on the natural, physical and human environment throughout the development process. This addresses the potential impacts on human beings, plants and animals; soil, water, air, climate and the landscape; material assets and the cultural heritage. The interaction between these factors is also examined and their significance assessed. Where necessary, mitigation measures to eliminate or reduce potential impacts are identified.
The results of the EIA studies have been published in an Environmental Statement (ES) that accompanied the planning application.
